Continental Trial 2021 is cancelled - Statement of the CCSC
We got the following statement of the CCSC and are sad to announce the cancelation of the Continental trials 2021.
Please read the CCSC statement:
"It is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you that this year’s Continental Sheepdog Championship due from August, 12th to 15th in Hoogwoud, Netherlands, has to be cancelled. The Continental 2021 was meant to go forward on the same location as the World Trial 2017 and was organized by the same team, led by Erik Groot and Albert Schepers.
Over a thousand triallists from 18 countries competed for the coveted team places, and with just 4 weeks to go, everything and everyone was set to go.
The Continental Sheepdog Championship was planned meticulously and in accord with all relevant public agencies, and field, sheep and the normal rest aside, they also had exemplary Corona planning.
Unfortunately, the Dutch government decided to open up the country not long ago and get rid of the mask mandate. This resulted in a huge rise in cases and was followed by strong governmental measures, which also apply to outdoor events and which factually render a Continenal impossible.
At a CCSC meeting last night we followed Albert’s and Erik’s advice and took the tough, but unanimous decision to cancel the Continental 2021 at this date.
The members of the Continental Committee would like to thank this year’s and also last year’s local team, who shared the same fate, for their dedicated work. We also would like to express our highest respect for all the competitors who are rightly proud of having qualified for the biggest Continental sheepdog trials.
The committee is looking forward to better times when we can meet and enjoy good runs and same company.
Viola Hebeler
Chair of the Continental Committee
