Changes to the website
Menu
The menu structure was not always as clear as desirable. For that reason I avoided to group calendar and registration items all together under the parent menu item "Calendar".
I added a new Menu Item : "Registrations". You will now find only calendar views as submenu of the item Calendar and the registration forms for trials + the list of participants will appear under the parent menu "Registrations".
Some menu items had a long list of submenu items. i added separators in the form of '-------' between the subitems to clarify the possible choices.
Finally, I had to reduce the size of the characters in the menu to accommodate the additional entries and to be able to reduce the number of abbreviations in the titles.
The BLOG (or News)
Finding the new BLOG items was for some of us a challenge. That was the reason to add links to the latest News items in the side bar of the home page . This method was quite heavy for the webmaster. There was also an additional issue with the BLOG. The menu was not longer translated in the BLOG pages and changing of language was impossible inside these pages.
For these reasons a new BLOG system is introduced. This system allows an automatic generation of headlines on the home page for the latest 5 News items. The title of the New items on the home page is in the same time a link to the full article.
The new system is also more simple to add new items. The administrators of the site can now add News items without having to deploy the full site each time.
There is however an issue for the French speaking and English speaking users. The system supports only one type of date format for al the BLOGS (Dutch, French and English). The rendering of the months in figures instead of words was a possible solution but is also not supported. This is the reason that you will encounter dates like "vrijdag 21 juli 2017" instead of "Friday 21 July 2017" or "21/07/2017" or even "07/21/2017".
My apologies for this little shortcoming but the advantages of the new system are really important. I'm of course working on a solution for the future but cannot apply it without the assistance of the Armadillo guys (the providers of the new BLOG system).
I hope that these changes will enable you to enjoy even more your surf experience on our site.
